Fitness and Intelligence
Being fit helps people with health problems, with happiness, and with lifestyle issues of all kinds - and people aren't afraid to tell you about it. In fact, most fitness fans will jump at the opportunity to recount how their life was changed as soon as they took up a regular exercise regimen. One often overlooked aspect of physical fitness, however, is its effect on our intelligence. A recent study put out by Rutgers University found that regular exercise, combined with memory training, can have a long-term impact on cognitive performance. What's more, another study found that people who have been working out throughout their lifetime have better cognitive performance than those who have not been. So, next time you hesitate before heading off to the gym, remember that you're doing it for your body and your mind.
